How to perform a manual firmware upgrade
Although updates are normally upgraded OTA (Over The Air), there might be instances where you might want to upgrade a device manually before it is publicly released or for troubleshooting purposes. Don't worry as its pretty simple and I'll break this down into 4 simple steps (plus a few sub-steps too :-)
1. Download the latest firmware from here to a phone or computer/laptop
2. Connect the computer/laptop/phone to the router wifi or LAN
3. Go to 192.168.1.1 and log in using the default credentials. Username: root Password: admin
3. Go to 192.168.1.1 and log in using the default credentials. Username: root Password: admin
4. Follow the steps found in the 2 images below:
- > Select System
- > Backup/Flash Firmware
- > Click "FLASH IMAGE"
- > Click "BROWSE"
- > Locate the file you downloaded in step #1 and select
- > Click "OPEN"
- > Click "UPLOAD"
- > UN-CHECK "KEEP SETTINGS AND RETAIN THE CURRENT CONFIGURATION"
- > Click " CONTINUE"
- Wait 10 minutes until the device is fully powered up and shows "Reachable" in your portal
In the future, you can see which firmware version any given device has by simply checking your management portal: (see below)
