How Many Devices Can Connect to the MR40/MR50?
You can connect a virtually unlimited number of devices to the MR40/MR50, including phones, tablets, hotspots, and more. While the router is designed to handle a large number of connections, we generally recommend a maximum of 72 devices for optimal performance.
It's important to understand that speeds may vary depending on the number of devices actively using the internet at the same time. As more devices connect and engage in bandwidth-intensive activities like streaming, gaming, or large downloads, overall network performance can be affected. Higher usage can impact speeds and latency for all connected devices.
While the MR40/MR50 can technically support many connections, exceeding our recommended number of 72 active devices may lead to a degraded experience. This is because the available bandwidth is shared among all connected devices. The more devices actively using the internet, the less bandwidth each device receives, potentially leading to slower speeds, increased latency (lag), and potentially reduced network stability.
If you plan to connect a very large number of devices, it's crucial to consider the types of activities those devices will be performing. For basic web browsing and email, you'll likely be able to connect more devices without significant impact. However, for demanding tasks like video streaming or online gaming, sticking closer to our recommendation will ensure a smoother and more reliable experience.
